Another one for VivalasVegas Challenge

This is a little bookmark I made on a package insert that came with my curtains that was slightly shiny making the Distress inks blend well.  I used the color and heart for my inspiration for my bookmark! The stamps I used the larger heart and tiny heart and part of bull's eye all came in my pound of rubber! As you can see I am having a blast with all of these fabulous stamps!

June's Challenge at VivaLasVegas Stamps Blog

I chose to use the color scheme from the challenge for my piece.  I sprayed DecoArt paints from
media sampler kit on plastic and sponged up and then sponged onto sketch paper.  When dry I stamped the  adorable chick on a egg with the sentiment stamp "Bet you wish you were here!".  These were included in my pound of rubber bought last week during the sale!  And I received 92 stamps in my pound, I was thrilled!  The "RUSH" and  "First Class Mail" also came in my pound!  Inked the edges with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and adhered to a piece of thicker paper.  Also added some air dry clay flowers that were sprayed with same inks.

Dragons Lair Designs Challenge for July "Shabby Chic"

I got to pick out some lovely papers and an image for this month's challenge at Dragons Lair Designs also know as Stamping with the Dragon.  The theme is shabby chic and those of you that know me know that is not my best style and your have probably never seen me do it but once before when I made a memory box for a dear friend with Dragons Lair Designs products.  I choose a lovely cherub and colored her with Prismacolor pencils and fussy cut her out of the frame she came in.  I took 3 sheets of gorgeous peach papers from the Peach Blossom Collection and layered them placing her on top with a metal clip with a silver rose and dark peach bead attached to it along with two sentiments from the collection.  I added a paper rose and some beads around it in the corner.

I knew I wanted it to be different and not a card ( I am terrible with cards! ) so I was thumbing through a magazine and saw how to make wire clothes hangers in miniature to hang banners from.  Sooo I made a slightly larger kinda wonky one and made some paper tabs to hang my now banner from!  Love it!  Some lace and embellies and it was a thing of wonder to me!

July's Steampunk Polymer Clay Mini House for Rhedds' Creative Spirit Challenge

My mom loves miniatures so much that I have often experimented and made different ones for her.  In the process, I have become quiet smitten with them myself!  I saw a YouTube video by

that gave directions for a mini steampunk house!  I was in love!  I haven't played with my polymer clay in a long time but out it came and I began to play!  Please check out her videos and subscribe so you don't miss any of her goodies!

I took gold polymer clay and rolled it out and then used a steampunk cog embossing folder to place over the clay and rolled over it embossing the clogs into the clay.  I cut 2 pointed top sides and 2 rectangular side pieces.  I cut a strip long enough to go over the top for the roof and a small strip of clay to make the roof cap.  I connected the sides by adding a strip of clay in the corners of the walls on the inside and used my embossing tool to mush the clay together to connect the walls.  Then I layed the top over the bottom very carefully, pressing gently down to connect them together.  It wanted to crack where it bent so I used the strip as a roof cap and using the embossing tool to attach it to the top of the roof.

Then came the super fun part!  I had a bag of jewelry pieces and beads...all sorts of amazing goodies given to me by my aunt just last week!  So I added pieces of jewelry to the front, back, and sides.  On the top, I glued a large silver bead and took a piece of copper wire and twisted around a pencil to form a coil.  I bent the coil to give a wonky look and glued into the hole in the bead and glued a red and orange bead to represent the chimney which most don't have fire coming out of them but it was the symbolism of it!

I left a couple step out that are important!  I baked my house without embellishment for 30 minutes but always follow your form of polymer clay's instructions, this is very important!  When cooled I took some acrylic metallic paint in blue, copper, ruby, and silver on my finger and antiqued the sides and top.  The colors do not show up well as I am back to my old camera that has a horrible gremlin problem!

Now, of course it needed a door! so I cut 3 sides out and scored the 4th side and opened the door before baking.
So I added jewelry embellishments on all 4 sides, did my wonky chimney, and that was it!
This was really fun to do and I am now working on some tiny books that are so much fun, also!

It is time for our July challenge at Rhedd's Creative Spirit and as always the theme is "Anything Goes" and is open to altered art/mixed media but no cards, ATC's or tags unless make from wood or other altered products.  Please read our rules for all the information.  We look forward to seeing what you can inspire us with!
Happy crafting!

Hoping I Made the Deadline For DominaArt!!

This is a short quick post to tell you I am hurrying to enter DominoArt again before the deadline!  The theme is anything goes and I used a Jenga game piece saved from knawing by my pup!  I made this in my beloved Finnabair style with my new DecoArt media sampler kit I got this week!  I stamped a VivaLasVegas sentiment on it "Exit Stage Left" because I always say that and it was a new stamp, too!  May update photos with different ink pad color so it will show up but for now here it is!

Love VivaLasVegas stamp "Exit Stage Left" needed a good white ink though! ugh!

See the chew marks! LOL!

I am entering this at DominoArt's Challenge #14 Anything Goes!  Come play there just take a game piece and alter it! So much fun!
I am also entering this in the June VivaLasVegas Stamps Challenge Blog using colors, birds (in  cage on top of piece)

First Project on New Blog for Dragons Lair Designs Inspiration Blog

Now if you have been following my posts and my posts on our Facebook Fan page, you will know that this is my last scheduled post for June and you have an opportunity to win something today!  You are looking for something and I am not going to tell you what!  No, I am not a meanie!  Just go back to my other 2 posts this month and see what you are looking for.  The first one to comment and tell me what it is and where you found it will get the prize!

I took this gorgeous distressed looking frame from the Deco Daze Collection Kit and added a lovely piece of background paper to the back also from this kit.  Before adhering the frame to background paper I added a fussy cut retro image of an advert for lunch for 40 cents!  Ah, the good old days...do you think our great grandchildren will look back at our times as the good old days?  I often wonder about that.  Then nothing more to do but cut the center out of one of the fabulous flowers included in the kit and shaping its petals a bit before gluing down.  And that was it!  See how easily you can work with these kits to produce fun, fast projects when you need them or really complex scrapbook pages that take a lot of time to finish!  Versatile is the word for these kits!

So this is it I will hang in my kitchen for that homey feel.  Look at the post and see what you need to find on this make!  Comment first with what it is and where it is on which post.  Be the winner!

Happy Crafting from Dragons Lair Designs!
